I recall when I had the same Mbox set up with my last computer and Pro Tools 9 I could not only monitor and hear playback on PT, but I heard audio from all the computers other apps as well. cat /proc/asound/cards 0 Pro : BeBoB - Mbox 2 Pro DIGIDESIGN Mbox 2 Pro (id:1, rev:1). You mention that you were told to downgrade your software. This device is based on DM1000E and BeBoB version 1 is installed. I will be happy to provide some direction. I know it is important to be able to use Pro Tools and the Mbox 2 with your Mac.

MBOX 2 PRO SOFTWARE
I see that your Mbox 2 and the Pro Tools software will not work after updating to macOS Sierra.
MBOX 2 PRO DRIVER
I've been fighting this for days, I've got the right Mbox2 driver installed, I've opened and closed logic, tried different projects, different chords, different settings, and everything else I could think of. Thanks for posting on the Apple Support Communities. In fact, it seems like Logic doesn't have any control over sound I/O at all, no matter what I do on logic, even if i disable the "input monitor" button, I still hear myself clear as day and can't hear any sound from logic, or any other app on the computer at that. Whether its recording or paused, whether "input monitor" is checked or not, doesn't matter, I hear myself the whole time.

I CAN record audio into logic, and it does show the correct wave form for what I record, however I cannot hear playback! In fact, I can't hear ANY audio coming out of the computer what so ever! It doesn't matter if I drag a track into logic with iTunes, or if I make a virtual instrument track, I can't hear anything. I can hear myself perfectly and the Mbox2 is lighting up fully and all of the knobs (Volume, Monitor, Mix, and Input 1 Gain) are all in the correct positions, and both the computer "Input level" sensor and the mixer in logic recognize sound and respond with zero latency. I have the I/O device in system settings DigiDesign Mbox2 as well, and "Use audio port for: Sound Input". Bon Iver, For Emma, Forever Ago Armed with just an Mbox and a limited M-Powered version of. Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro Factory Placement: External D/A audio: 24 bit / 96 kHz Features: DirectSound support, Support for ASIO, Suitable for PA use/Rack mount. theonly thing i can see it doesnt have is hi-z (instrument) inputs so your son could plug his guitar/bass directly in to the board, but that can be solved by either buying an SM-57 microphone and/or DI-box (silent recording) :-)Ī similar and cheaper tascam mixer/firewire interfaceĪctually the most rad add-on rather than a DI-box is the line 6 pod, for $200 it's maybe the most popular (because it's really good) guitar processor effect today, and it can run straight into the alesis or other mixing board since it can convert the impedance of the signal from hi-z to line level.I have the I/O device on logic set to DigiDesign Mbox 2 and core audio enabled. Schoeps MK 2 Capsule Matched Pair Sennheiser HD 400 PRO. i havent tested the mastercontrol but the feature set is really really really compelling (btw, i think tascam even has one too in a similar feature set). Digidesign Mbox 2 hardware features superior sound quality Four simultaneous inputs with analog and digital I/O 48V phantom power for high quality condenser microphones 24-bit/48 kHz audio, MIDI in/out, Zero-latency monitoring Powered by USB The Mbox 2 has to be the best value in computer-based recording available today.
MBOX 2 PRO PORTABLE
doing these things with a mouse/keyboard really is not the best way to learn, and if you want the same thing in protools you're talking about > $2,500, or buying a mackie device to go with the presonus is also a few grand. Hardware - The Mbox 2 Pro is the ultimate high-definition portable Pro Tools LE system, packing a wide-range of analog and digital I/O connections into a. the mixing board is designed to connect to the computer DAW software to let you move things without your mouse, which is awesome. so it's not expandable at all, complete vendor lock-in, except for vst plugins that would work in them all.Īnyway if you're considering spending the money for the mbox 2 pro (~$800?), I recommend you look at the alesis master control (url link below) which has 2 microphone inputs, lots of 1/4" inputs/outputs and it is a real mixing board that can give real hands-on feel to recording/mixing music. the DAW software interface for recording is really important though and protools hardware is good for protools DAW software ONLY. if you pick a presonus device, the firestudio project is a great choice for a gift. i've been doing computer recording for ~10 years now btw and have used lots of interfaces. I have a presonus firestudio (not the project version) and am pretty happy with it.
